Data Unification

Palantir Finance can integrate any type of data from any source.

Palantir is not a data vendor. It connects to the major financial data providers that your firm already uses, and it's also easy to incorporate information from web-based content or proprietary data sources. Data adapters transform any data into a form that is usable in all of Palantir's applications. In addition, the Data Platform supports "trust ordering" for cases where multiple data providers have the "same" data -- for example, pricing data on a particular security.

Extensibility

Palantir Finance is designed to unify your existing investment in technology, not replace it.

The platform is completely pluggable. This means that your organization can connect to legacy databases, hook up to your in-house pricing engines and custom algorithms, and even extend or create new applications. In a mature Palantir Finance deployment, the customer's in-house technologists build new applications within Palantir Finance to leverage the Data Platform and countless other features. These custom applications will be accessible to the entire firm.

Knowledge Management

Knowing what you know -- and having immediate access to it -- is vital for effective analytical work.

Palantir's elegant knowledge management framework makes storing and retrieving your analysis trivial. With Palantir you can instantly go back and look at your analysis from earlier in the week, or easily find a list of your studies on the Japanese carry trade that mention Australia, or set up a persistent search on a new indicator to alert you when it gets to an interesting level.

Collaboration

Anything you can save, you can share.

Every document created in Palantir can be shared across your organization. Open your team members’ research, create a copy for yourself, and tweak their assumptions to see how the results are impacted. Use Palantir to take a screenshot of your research and email it to colleagues. When they receive the email and click the screenshot, an embedded hyperlink automatically opens that piece of research in Palantir.

Security

Configure and enforce security and entitlements policies.

Information security is as important for our finance clients as it is for our clients in the intelligence community, which is why we've leveraged the security model from our Palantir Government product in building Palantir Finance. You can choose to protect any piece of data or research from any group of users based on fine-grained security policies. Give everyone at your firm read access to a study you've built, but give write access only to your immediate collaborators. Or keep your work private and only share when you've fully developed your ideas. Additionally, integrated LDAP authentication and permissioning at the data level give you the ability to specify which users have access to each data source.
