Often times you want to run analyses over a certain time period or a special set of dates. The Date Set application lets you define that set of dates using just about any criteria you can imagine. All the other Palantir Finance applications interact with Date Sets, so wherever you are in the platform you'll always be able to focus your analysis on a preferred set of dates.
Define a custom set of dates. Your Date Set could be something straightforward like the first Monday of every month or all the dates between 1995 and 1999. Or it could be more nuanced like every time the Nasdaq rose more than a percent on the same day the Dow dropped by more than a percent.
See how any instrument performed on the subset of dates you selected as compared to the overall time period.
Once you create and save a Date Set, it can be used to enhance analysis in any of the other Palantir Finance applications. Plug your "election years" Date Set into the Regression application to optimize your linear model for election years only. Or use your "rate changes" Date Set in the Index application to make your index rebalance whenever the Fed announces interest rate changes.
